Picture this: you're out there, navigating the field, closing deals, and building connections. But suddenly, signal troubles strike. Enter Download My Day – your ultimate backup plan.

Seamlessly integrated into the SPOTIO app, this innovation ensures you're always in control, even in low or no signal zones. Load up specific areas before you head out, and continue accessing, updating, and logging activities without interruption, regardless of signal strength.

Getting Started

To access Download My Day:

  1. Login to SPOTIO’s mobile app.
  2. Click the Profile silhouette in the top left corner.
  3. Select Download My Day.

Once inside, there are 2 tabs:

  • Pending contains records saved locally on your device that have yet to sync to the cloud.
  • History will show data originally logged offline that has since synced (or attempted to sync) with the cloud. These records were previously in the Pending section prior to automatically syncing.

The Download My Day menu also has 2 icons in the top right corner. The icon with 2 arrows in a circle allows you to manually refresh any pending data that is attempting to sync with the cloud. The icon with the single arrow pointing down is where you can go to select specific areas that you want to have downloaded on your device.

When clicking on the download button, you will then be taken to a screen to download records (or reload any previous downloaded maps).

To download an area:

  1. Tap on the Profile silhouette in the top left corner of the mobile app.
  2. Select Download My Day.
  3. Hit the download icon in the top right.
  4. Click on the yellow Download button.
  5. Add or edit the name.
  6. Move around the map of the area and records wanting to be loaded.
  7. Tap on the yellow Download button on the bottom right.

The default name will be Map Download followed by the date and time the download took place.

You will also be able to see the number of records selected in the viewport area, as well as a scrollable list of the records, including name (if assigned), address, and pipeline stage below the viewport prior to downloading.

When you hit Download, a loading wheel will appear indicating that it is generating the records. This data is being downloaded locally to your device.

After downloading the specific area, you will then be able to view that area along with any others that are actively or have been previously downloaded, in the Download My Day menu. You can view which are ready to work, as well as expired downloads.

Tip: Download areas at the start of the day to work those records in the field. Re-download either that area or a new one at the start of your next day.

Working Records in a Downloaded Area

Once an area has been downloaded, it will be stored locally on a device for 24 hours after the download occurred. After 24 hours, you will need to re-download the specific area in order to get the most up to date information to work with. A message will appear next to each downloaded area to let you know of its expiration.

When you begin working in a low/no signal area in the field, the app will let you know that you have no internet connection by displaying the message and red bar warnings shown.

Updating Existing Records

When working within an area that has been Pre-Downloaded, you will be able to see all colorization and filter options from the map view that would normally appear with a signal. You will also be able to log and schedule activities on records you have downloaded, as well as view the record’s history for previously logged activities.

Most other areas of the mobile app will work and operate as usual, however for the best experience possible (the best recreation of the online experience) you should be directed to use the map view.

Creating New Records

When adding a new record while experiencing low connectivity, it will pull the latitude and longitude for the newly created record displayed where normally the full address would appear. This is due to the fact that offline you will still be able to access GPS information for your device (the info needed for obtaining a lat and long), however when having low/no connectivity, SPOTIO will be unable to geocode the full address based on the Google Maps API. You can leave the newly added records as is when adding them with no signal, and SPOTIO will automatically update the saved latitude and longitude with the correct address after you come back into an area with signal.

You will still have the option to add the address manually (which would then override the lat/long being displayed). Once connection is reestablished again, all records added while offline will automatically be geocoded to then include the full address, and all activity and record information will then automatically sync to the cloud and thus be visible throughout their SPOTIO account on Web and for other users.

Offline Sync Back to SPOTIO

Whether it be for newly created records or updates to existing records that you Downloaded My Day for, all offline data that still needs to be synced with the cloud will appear in the Download My Day section of the mobile app.

The “Pending” section will show all offline activities and updates that are still waiting to sync with the cloud and the “History” section will show a log of all data that at one point was in the pending section (or added while offline) that has since synced successfully with the cloud.

Those that are pending sync will be displayed by a blue message showing Waiting for Connection. Once records have been successfully synced, a green message will appear showing Records synced Successfully

FAQs

Why do Download My Day pre-loads expire in 24 hours?

The expiration date is to ensure records have the most up to date version of information. This is so you don’t lose new records within that time period and avoids you missing records.

Can I filter records to add when downloading my day?

Yes! When downloading a new map, you can use the funnel icon to filter by the records you are targeting then apply. Capture those records on the viewport and download.

How will logging visits and activities when offline affect my visit verification?

When the phone has service, the address will update and verify the visit date and time that the activity was logged. This will ensure data is accurately notated at the time of activity and correct distance when entered.

How many records can I download at a time?

The limit is 500.
