SPOTIO’s Text Messaging Opt-In feature is a system where a customer gives a business explicit consent to send them messages. In the U.S., there’s a legal requirement for businesses to obtain written consent before sending customers promotional text messages

Why is this Important?

If you do not have an Opt-in Messaging System due to recent regulatory changes your team will be blocked from messaging your customers using SPOTIO numbers. By providing the Opt-In Messaging System for you within SPOTIO we have taken out some of the guesswork, this allows you to text with your customers while also being compliant with federal regulations.

*Important* Once you have gained consent from a customer you will have consent to message that customer until they Opt-out of messaging.

How to send Opt-In message on the Web

Start by navigating to a record of your choice

  1. Click on the Record either from the map view or by searching for the record
  2. Click on the Record to pull up the Record Details screen
  3. Click the Text Message Icon
  4. A pop-up box will appear
  5. Choose from Text-to-Join, Generate QR Code or Email option
    1. Text-to-Join: Read the description in the Text-toJoin box. The customer will give consent by texting the word START to your SPOTIO phone number. 
    2. Generate QR Code: Click on the Generate QR Code button, this will generate a QR code for your customer to scan to give consent to text messaging. 
    3. Email: The customer will consent by receiving an email where they will fill in their mobile number to receive texts.
  6. Once the customer has given consent to receive text messages from your company you are now able to text with that customer until they Opt-out.

How to send Opt-In message on the Web

Start by navigating to a record of your choice

  1. Click on the Record either from the map view or list view
  2. Navigate to the details pop-out menu for the Record
  3. Click the Text Message Icon
  4. A pop-up box will appear
  5. Choose from Text-to-Join or Email option
    1. Text-to-Join: The customer will give consent by texting the word START to your SPOTIO phone number. 
    2. Email: The customer will consent by receiving an email where they will fill in their mobile number to receive texts.
  6. Once the customer has given consent to receive text messages from your company you are now able to text with that customer until they Opt-out.

Pro Tip: The text-to-join option requires no additional step, this is the easiest way to get consent!

Text Messaging Opt-Out

For customers who want to Opt-out, they simply need to text the word STOP to your SPOTIO Number. Once a customer has opted out of texting with you it will be reflected by a badge on their details page of their record.
