Links page in SPOTIO Web app
With the SPOTIO Links feature you can create a Web or App link. Both of these type of links help mobile users connect seamlessly to other tools they use throughout their day. A web link creates a connection to a website/URL from within the SPOTIO mobile app, and an app link creates a connection to a native iOS/Android app from within the SPOTIO mobile app.
How to Create a Link
An Account Admin user is able to create Links on the SPOTIO Web app. To create a link:
- Click on the Settings gear icon in the bottom left of the Web app.
- Select Links.
- Click on New Link.
- Select the Link type, a "Global Link" or "Record Link".
- Enter a name for your link and choose whether it will be a web or app link.
- You will need to enter a url for both the web and app links.
- For a Web link you can insert variables, like latitude and longitude, that will take you to the exact spot within a website that you need to go. For example, the Project Sunroof link is a web link that takes the mobile user directly to the Google Project Sunroof website.
- Once finished, click on Create.
Be sure to check the box Make it available for the Mobile Links to have it available in the mobile app. Once a Record Link is enabled in the web app and this box checked, the link will appear within the LINKS button in the Record Details page for the mobile user.
GET Request
Links allows GET Header Requests for session IDs and to improve ease of transition to other apps for busy Sales Reps in the field. With GET Header Requests, admins can setup Key Values that are sent with an HTTP request when the mobile user is linking thru to the destination site.
Key and value can be entered to pass more sensitive information into the linked web application.
An example of this for Key would be the Auth Token for the web URL to give the user access and then the User ID to pass the users identification info to the application. With this sensitive info being passed safely to the linked URL, it prevents the user from having to enter the data. This improves sales rep productivity by improving overall ease of use.
It is specific to the customer/users system to determine what the keys and values will be.
Global Links
The Global link type allows a link to be independent of specific records. Global links are available to all users from within the Mobile app Settings.
Additional Links
These links provide additional information on linking content between apps.
In addition to the above generic application linking info, we’ve attached a couple sets of sample instructions from other apps that our customers commonly link to:
